Boy : I didn't think you'd be interested in a sports nut like me. Hey, CPM must've listened to me (yes me) and in the approximate two weeks they had since I reviewed Nightwalker 1 they heeded my words of wisdom and realized that alternate angles do indeed "fucking suck". I'm starting to like these guys a little better, A.T. Votoms is still damn tragedy but they've got some good stuff too. At least their anime is cheap as hell. Getting twelve episodes of a reasonably good series for forty dollars can't be beat. |

A hundred and fifty minutes of anime is a LONG time. Fruit flies entered my room, ate, slept, lived, died and we were still only on episode five. A solar eclipse occurred, then a lunar one. But still I pressed on! The point I'm trying to convey is the a hundred and fifty minutes is a LONG time. I put the disc in at 6:03 pm and we weren't done until 8:33! That's ludicrous! Hello, thanks for giving me a good deal and all but can't you just inject the anime directly into my brain? Damn, it's hard to have to watch both languages too. So what were you looking for in this final volume of Nightwalker? Maybe some closure? The coming of the Golden Dawn? More insight into the past Cain and Shido shared? The return of Bait? Maybe some naked Yayoi? Prepare to be sorely disappointed. The conclusion is all about the episodic format, it's not bad, you just won't be getting any closure in the slightest. I'm a bit pissed off that they spent like three episodes on something only to effectively say to their audience, "Hey, remember the Golden Dawn? We don't! Ahahahaha!" If this was high school they'd probably be slapping their "manhoods" in your face too.** |

The episode I've entitled "Kasumi and the weird bandage lady" (number nine) is probably the best out of all of these six. Considering it features some heavy scenes, no uncomfortable "Cain gaiety", and another one of those "Oh wait! It was the person we thought was the good guy!" surprises like in HALF THE EPISODES. By the third time this came up they couldn't fool me. If everyone in the damn episode was mean or evil on the outside I'd start blaming pigeons and insects and footwear for all the gruesome murders. Sad, but true. Nightwalker is still a pretty good view, even without considering its phenomenally low cost. It's pretty average but it's got some cool action scenes and very interesting characters. I could definitely see myself watching this a couple times over, just like the old animes of the 1980's. Oh yeah, I like Shido's dub actor, he's got this weird nasal tone to his voice that sounds pretty cool. The final note, this cover is a lot better than the first volume, I'm lovin' it. |
