Stormlord - Seneca's Marble Pack Edit
by N-Joy, Simona

Stormlord is not a game known to me, but if you find yourself in the same boat then you don't have to worry. No prior knowledge of the game is necessary to enjoy this kickass bit of Italian synth-pop.

Let it be known that I have a total boner for Romance languages, stemming back from when I used to study Latin, so it's no surprise that something in Italian grabs me right away. But this song just treats you right in all the right ways. The little pitch shifting thing she does around 0'49 (and a couple times through the song) sends shivers down my spine. This woman, like the hologram tutor in Half-Life, has the kind of voice that could rather easily convince me to kill the president. And, old school style man without emotions that I am, the sheer melancholy feeling she exudes is a thing of absolute wonder to me. As I drove 85 down a residential street at 3:00 AM last night, gripping the steering wheel while belting out the "Perche" repetition I knew that everything would be alright.

As long as no cop saw me blow through that red light.

My only real complaint is that the 40-odd second guitar solo at the end really has no place in a song like this. If they really wanted to use it, why didn't they stick it in as a bridge? It hardly seems right to make the woman the focus of the piece for like 3 and a half minutes and then go "HAY GUYS THAEERE'S GUITARS HAER!!!" Serious ADD up in this piece.

Otherwise: Kickass.

But Could I Drive To This?: Absolutely! I don't suggest repeating my felonious actions. There are plenty of other legal activities that driving to this song could entail! Perhaps you're in love with a girl like no other, but she won't give you the time of day! Well after you've dropped her off for the night, feel free to drive down the lonely streets of your hometown at 5:00 AM sniffling and sobbing out whatever lyrics you can pick out. That's what love's all about, champ!
